WELCOME TO PROJECT AWARE!
Western Maryland AHEC’s Project Aware , funded as a Special Volunteer Program by the Corporation for National and Community Service, recruited and trained volunteers in Western Maryland and West Virginia to support the existing emergency response infrastructure. Participants were trained in disaster preparedness, emergency response, and the Incident Command System (ICS). From March 2005 through March 2007, the program recruited 1,247 volunteers who logged in over 48,967 cumulative volunteer hours. 630 volunteers were age 55 or older.
